Cole Engineering Services (CESI), a By Light company, is recognized as a premier provider of modeling and simulation (M&S) training solutions to the Federal Government and industry. Since 2004, CESI has been at the forefront of developing, maintaining, and integrating simulation-based training, serious gaming, technical services, training and other support in live, virtual, constructive, and gaming (LVCG) domains. CESI also designs, builds and runs infrastructure, platforms, applications and processes that enable cyber training for the integrated multi-domain force. Our vision is to become a worldwide full spectrum LVCG and cyber training/analysis developer, integrator and services provider. Candidate will work with an experienced team of cybersecurity, software, CICD, IT infrastructure and systems engineers to support the development, operations and security of a complex, distributed hybrid (on prem and cloud) system. The intern will be given hands on engineering tasks and will participate as a part of the team. The intern will gain practical experience with Agile system development using industry standard tools such as Jira and Confluence, and will learn and apply technical tools and approaches to solve real world technical problems. The duration of the internship is May - August.

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline such as cybersecurity, computer engineering, computer science or information technology from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to work part time while continuing to perform strongly in course work leading towards a cybersecurity, computer engineering/science or IT related degree.
  • Ability to work as a member of a technical team to complete complex software and systems projects
  • A strong interest and curiosity in cybersecurity, software and IT related technologies
  • U. S. Citizenship status with ability to obtain a SECRET to TOP SECRET security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Operate in a virtualized and cloud based environment
  • Utilize VMWare tools to manage connections to virtual hosts and analyze resource utilization
  • Access virtual VM and/or cloud hosts to execute commands, perform analyses, and retrieve files.
  • Operate in a predominately Linux environment
  • Basic CLI proficiency
  • Execute and maintain Linux compatible scripts
  • Independently execute technical tasking
  • Maintain progress metrics
  • Report status on regular intervals
  • Author and maintain technical documentation
  • Perform trade studies to compare Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) options for a technical solution that best fits program needs.
  • Evaluate enterprise level network, compute, and storage solutions
  • Support the assembly and management of on prem servers in a data center environment
  • Configuration, management and monitoring of on prem and cloud based IT infrastructure
