About The Position

We are currently seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer for our Corprate IT Department located in Chicago, IL. The IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for proactive ongoing maintenance of the IT network and related technologies. They coordinate moves, additions and changes to the network infrastructure, which includes data and security, voice, wireless, application delivery, LAN/WAN optimization and monitoring platforms. This role will work independently on projects of lesser scope and complexity than more experienced engineers. Requirements

  • College Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of IT experience with at least 1 year or Network-related experience.
  • Ability to work independently without much supervision and be able to work well with a team of IT Professionals.
  • Solid understanding of various IT technologies with some emphasis on network design and management.
  • Some travel to job sites and or offices to set up or troubleshoot networks.

Responsibilities

  • Using network software tools to identify the need for and maintains documentation including configurations, interconnections between devices and analysis of equipment lifecycles.
  • Ensures connected device status is monitored to better ensure uptime and availability and respond to reported outages.
  • Collects data and brings possible resolutions to management or higher-level engineers.
  • Reviews and understands basic and mid-level infrastructure technology documents and terminology.
  • Manages the design, set-up and support for small to medium job sites/offices.
  • Participates in teams in the design and set up of more complex networks.
  • Provides Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve and document issues and problems.
  • Understands IT project plans and works with vendors and other IT personnel to arrive at various modifications to plans or resolutions to issues that may arise.
