MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT: As an IT Enterprise Architect, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USCENTCOM. You will play a crucial role by developing, maintaining, and governing enterprise architecture artifacts that align information technology capabilities with joint operational mission requirements. This role provides architectural oversight across network, cloud, data, application, and cybersecurity domains to enable secure, resilient, and interoperable IT services across the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR). The position leverages Sparx Enterprise Architect as the authoritative modeling and repository tool to document current-state and future-state architectures, trace requirements to capabilities, and support governance, investment decisions, and modernization initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Experience developing and governing enterprise architectures in support of mission-critical IT environments.
  • Hands-on experience with DoDAF or comparable EA modeling tools.
  • Strong understanding of DoD IT environments, including networks, cloud, cybersecurity, and enterprise services.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior military and civilian leadership.
  • Active Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred or ability to obtain).
  • US citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting a Combatant Command (CCMD) J6 organization.
  • Familiarity with DoDAF, TOGAF, or similar enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Experience supporting cloud migration, Zero Trust architecture, and data-centric architectures.
  • Knowledge of IT governance, ITSM, and requirements traceability processes.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, DoDAF, cloud architecture) preferred.
  • Develop and maintain USCENTCOM J6 enterprise architecture artifacts using Sparx Enterprise Architect, including operational, system, service, data, and technical views

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Architecture Development Develop and maintain USCENTCOM J6 enterprise architecture artifacts using Sparx Enterprise Architect, including operational, system, service, data, and technical views.
  • Model current-state (as-is) and future-state (to-be) architectures in alignment with mission priorities and modernization objectives.
  • Translate operational and IT requirements into architectural models, standards, and patterns.
  • Ensure architectural traceability between mission needs, capabilities, systems, and technical solutions.
  • Architecture Governance & Standards Support J6 architecture governance processes, boards, and technical review forums.
  • Evaluate proposed IT initiatives, changes, and requirements for architectural compliance and alignment.
  • Tooling & Repository Management Establish and maintain DoDAF and/or Sparx Enterprise Architect models as authoritative architecture records.
  • Define modeling conventions, viewpoints, and metadata standards within DoDAF and/or Sparx to ensure consistency and reuse.
  • Integrate DoDAF and/or Sparx architecture artifacts with requirements management, CMDB, ITSM, and portfolio management processes.
  • Support onboarding and adoption of Sparx across J6 and supporting teams.
  • Requirements, Portfolio & Modernization Support Collaborate with requirements managers to ensure architectural alignment and feasibility of IT requirements.
  • Support capability development, investment planning, and prioritization using architecture-driven analysis.
  • Provide architecture inputs to modernization initiatives including cloud adoption, Zero Trust, data strategy, and network evolution.
  • Enable impact analysis for proposed changes across systems, services, and mission threads.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Coordinate with J6 divisions, CENTCOM directorates, component commands, DISA, and external stakeholders as required.
  • Develop architecture briefings, visualizations, and decision-support materials for senior leadership.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to J6 leadership on enterprise architecture strategy and implementation.
