Position Overview The IT Enterprise Architect provides solution architecture leadership across cloud (with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure ), data center, networks, storage, identity, ensuring platforms are secure, scalable, observable, and cost-efficient. The role sets standards and patterns, leads critical solution designs, and governs delivery through design reviews and technical leadership. They will work closely with business units and IT engineers and managers to design, develop, and integrate computer systems, review existing environments to identify areas for improvement and monitoring the outcome of new or upgraded systems. Responsibilities include tracking the full IT technology portfolio and developing a multi-year roadmap, analyzing systems and applications throughout the ecosystem, making recommendations at a program, project and collective IT organization levels, evaluate system design, and create and maintain procedures, and processes as required to deliver proven solution designs. The IT Enterprise Architect is responsible to design and plan for operations support, monitoring, security, and management in addition to core functional requirements. The IT Enterprise Architect reports to Enterprise Architecture function to represent IT interests and concerns, align solution designs and delivery to the enterprise architecture direction, and help to govern technology standards. The IT Enterprise Architect is integral to service delivery and enablement. Azure expertise is foundational to this role, including Azure Landing Zones , network architecture , and Azure-native platform services .

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or computer science and 12+ years of related experience
  • Master’s degree and 10+ years of related experience
  • Three years of work experience in IT solution design and architecture
  • Three years of hands-on cloud solution design and deployment
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills , able to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Strong proficiency in IT architecture, solution design, systems thinking , and cross-platform integration.
  • Advanced cloud architecture expertise with a focus on Microsoft Azure (Landing Zones, governance, networking), with familiarity in AWS as a plus.
  • Deep expertise of hybrid networking and identity/IAM , including Entra ID, SSO/OIDC/SAML, Conditional Access, and workload identity patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with security architecture , including WAF, API security, segmentation, PAM/PIM, secrets management, and Azure Key Vault / KMS .
  • Strong grasp of observability and reliability engineering , including logging, metrics, tracing, SLO/SLI design, DR/BCP, and operational readiness.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code and automation (Terraform, Bicep, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Broad knowledge of understanding AI Platforms and related IT principles including understanding of agentic frameworks, infrastructure aspects related to Generative AI models and agents.

Nice To Haves

  • Six years of solution design and implementation experience
  • Cloud architecture certification from one or more public cloud providers
  • TOGAF certification
  • Infrastructure as Code tool experience
  • Full stack monitoring and advanced operations management experience
  • Experience with risk management and compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO, HIPAA/PHI as applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the various business units to identify current concerns and needs and potential solutions.
  • Provides guidance and support on how best to implement the recommended solution based on best practice and current environment and team structure.
  • Define current/future state architectures and long-term roadmaps aligned to business goals
  • Model TCO, right-size capacity, and implement cost controls and FinOps practices
  • Lead end-to-end design for initiatives (e.g., micro-segmentation, WAF/API gateway, observability, backup/DR etc.) leading to modernization of existing IT solutions
  • Publish reference architectures, ADRs, guardrails, and golden paths, gap/drift analysis and deviation handling
  • Partner with engineers to transition designs to build; validate via PoCs; de-risk with modeling phased rollouts
  • Communicate alternatives, risks, and tradeoffs to execs and teams and influence decision-making
  • Provide mentorship and coach engineers to elevate engineering practices and design thinking
