About The Position

About ECE Celebrating over 40 years of success, ECE is one of the most well-known and respected names in comparative international education. Our main product, an educational credential evaluation, is a report used by counselors, recruiters, registrars, and admissions officers in the U.S. and elsewhere to determine how the academic history of a foreign-educated individual matches up to American grading scales and standards. As the demand for talented professionals has increased around the world, hiring managers have increasingly relied on the expertise of ECE to review the credentials of employees. ECE is a medium-sized nonprofit organization with just over 100 employees. Location: Remote position for Southeastern Wisconsin-based individuals. Some tasks may require the individual to work in the office 1-2 days a week, depending on business needs. ECE's office is located in Downtown Milwaukee (Schlitz Park - 101 W. Pleasant Street). Summary: The IT Developer is responsible for performing development tasks using Java web application frameworks and providing support and administration of applications. This position requires involvement in the entire development life cycle including gathering requirements, estimating, designing, developing, managing, testing, maintaining, and documenting applications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or completion of certified coding camp or coding certificate required, or 2+ years professional coding experience.

Nice To Haves

  • No foreign language skills are required for this position, however, experience supporting an organization with a global scope is ideal. ECE serves individuals, institutions, and other key stakeholders from all over the world.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for system design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Works with staff members, vendors, programmers, and other team members to develop technical solutions for complex business problems.
  • Prepares detailed specifications from which complex systems will be created.
  • Develops and executes test plans, test specifications, and test cases. Conducts trial runs of systems to ensure documented requirements are met.
  • Works with quality assurance/testing groups to resolve issues and to ensure software quality.
  • Performs revision, repair, or expansion of existing systems to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
  • Works with stakeholders to develop features and requirements for new and existing systems. Works with these stakeholders to break down system features and requirements into user stories and record those stories in the engineering system.
  • Works within the engineering system to accurately represent development.
  • Works with the IT support staff to support ECE systems when necessary.
  • Works with IT team to develop data models that support business processes & ensure changes adhere to best practices & are properly prioritized/scheduled.
  • Participates in the weekly IT technical meeting.
  • Serves as an on-call IT support when needed.
