About The Position

Specialty Systems, Inc. has an opening for a Configuration Management (CM) professional to join our team of technical professionals supporting Government customers in development and test lab environments. In this role, you will support the configuration, administration, and technical management of Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as associated hardware and software, with a focus on improving visibility, control, and software configuration management across mission-critical systems of our Department of Defense customer at the Joint Base MDL. Ideal candidates will have a broad set of CM technical skills and must be able to work both individually and within a team environment. As a member of our team, you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our Department of Defense customers’ systems that have a direct impact on our country’s warfighting and peace-keeping capabilities are performing at optimal levels. This position is located at our customer site location at Joint Base MDL. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9hour days (M-Th) and an 8-hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9-hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3-day weekend every other week!

Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance required at time of start
  • Minnimum of 3 years of experience supporting CM of IT systems and/or system administration functions
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of software configuration management, software build, and versioning tools such as Git and Bitbucket.
  • Experience with Jira or similar issue tracking software
  • Experience with Agile process a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Track and control changes in software baselines and work products throughout the lifecycle of the system.
  • Perform software installation and configuration in labs or ship.
  • Support Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and provide input for System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR)
  • Define SW Versioning methodology to contractors and ensure design supports compatibility between various fielded SW baselines
  • Prepare Software Release Packages
  • Build executable files from source code
  • Maintain SW media library
  • Support installation, configuration, sustainment, and version control of system software, tools, and supporting applications
