About The Position

The IT Asset Transportation & Logistics Specialist supports the Department of Information Technology’s IT asset inventory processes and related workflows. The Specialist is responsible for securely and efficiently transporting IT assets within the organization and to external locations, ensuring equipment is properly packaged, shipped, and delivered in accordance with organizational policies and industry standards. This role minimizes risk of damage, ensures timely asset availability, and maintains accurate records of all IT assets. Key responsibilities include managing and reconciling hardware inventory, supporting inventory audits, and ensuring compliance with State asset management policies. The Specialist works closely with IT teams to enhance logistics workflows and overall operational efficiency. Duties include inperson capture, recording, reconciliation, and validation of transported IT assets—such as asset tags, service tags, serial numbers, make, and model—across DoITsupported agencies and field offices statewide. Responsibilities extend to all DoIT Enterprise customers across approximately 45 State agencies. Statewide travel, using both State issued and personal vehicles, may be required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Four years of experience in the disposal of surplus equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Candidates may substitute education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 credit hours for each year of experience, for up to two years of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Supply and Logistics classifications or Supply and Materials Control and Management specialty codes in the supply field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months experience working as an inventory specialist in an IT environment.
  • Six months experience using spreadsheets and databases to track inventory and create reports.

Responsibilities

  • Asset Transportation Planning – Develop and execute transportation plans for IT assets.
  • Coordinate pickups, deliveries, and shipments with internal teams, vendors, and logistics partners.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and organizational policies.
  • Packaging and Handling – Oversee proper packaging to prevent damage during transit.
  • Implement best practices for handling sensitive IT equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of packaging materials.
  • Logistics Coordination – Schedule and track shipments to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Maintain detailed shipment records, including dates, locations, and asset condition.
  • Manage documentation for international shipments.
  • Security and Compliance – Ensure asset security during transportation to prevent loss, theft, or unauthorized access.
  • Follow data protection protocols for equipment containing sensitive information.
  • Adhere to environmental regulations related to IT equipment transport and disposal.
  • Inventory and Documentation – Update asset management systems with transportation details.
  • Conduct audits and reconciliations to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Prepare reports on transportation activities and performance metrics.
  • Problem Resolution – Address issues related to delayed or damaged shipments.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers on transportation-related claims.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements.
  • IT Collaboration – Work with the DoIT ITAM team on reconciliation and validation of transported assets.
  • Partner with technical teams to research and resolve asset-related issues.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, customers, and vendors to gather inventory information.
