Role Summary: The Senior Director of Agile Transformation & Product Operations is a leadership role responsible for owning, executing, and maturing the enterprise-wide technical delivery operating model. This individual will lead a full-scale unifications and transformation of technology delivery operations (using a mechanism such as the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), drive consistent delivery execution, and ensure on-going maturations of delivery operations. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication, transformational leadership, and expert coaching skills capable of building sustainable operational excellence across all technical delivery operations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in technology delivery and operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role driving large-scale Agile transformations.
  • Expert-level knowledge of and certification in delivery operations frameworks, such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) as a SAFe Program Consultant (SPC).
  • Deep expertise in configuring and standardizing Jira, including establishing feature-to-capability traceability and creating insightful reporting dashboards.
  • Exceptional coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills with the ability to build and develop internal talent, lead change management, and influence execution.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence and align senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing and maturing a product operating model across multiple teams or business units.
  • Proven experience with value stream mapping, team topology design, and organizational change management.

Responsibilities

  • Agile Framework Leadership & Execution:
  • Own and drive the enterprise-wide adoption and consistent application of the agile framework.
  • Lead and facilitate key agile ceremonies, including Program Increment (PI) Planning, Inspect and Adapt workshops, and Pre-PI Planning coordination across multiple product lines.
  • Establish and mature post-PI execution rhythms, including daily stand-ups, iteration planning, retrospectives, and PM/PO Syncs to manage dependencies.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive agile training strategy for all roles, including Product Managers, Product Owners, business leaders, and Agile teams, to ensure a deep understanding of responsibilities and practices.
  • Communicate framework maturation and milestones specific to framework delivery to senior executives
  • Product Operating Model & Transformation:
  • Lead the structured onboarding of product teams onto the standardized product operating model, applying lessons learned while respecting each team's unique context.
  • Conduct value stream and readiness assessments to define team structures, identify dependencies, and plan for effective transformation.
  • Develop a repeatable transformation playbook to ensure a consistent and scalable approach for expanding Agile practices to new teams and portfolios.
  • Act as the primary driver for continuous improvement, identifying and removing organizational impediments to flow and value delivery.
  • Facilitate and communicate regular team operations metrics to senior executives.
  • Tooling, Measurement, and Predictability:
  • Define, implement, and govern the enterprise-wide hierarchy in Jira (Initiative → Capability → Feature → Story) to ensure strategic traceability.
  • Conduct regular training to establish and enforce standardized workflows for work item creation, progression, and reporting within Jira
  • Using agility, regularly assess processes, right-size the operations into consolidated frameworks, projects, boards, reports, plans, etc.
  • Develop and maintain KPI dashboards to measure feature/story flow, delivery predictability, and overall team performance, providing visibility to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Use data-driven insights to identify bottlenecks, forecast delivery, and guide the organization toward greater predictability.
  • Communicate on-going agile “internal product” enhancements to senior leadership
  • Leadership, Coaching, and Stakeholder Management:
  • Communicate progress, outcomes, and the value of the transformation to executive stakeholders.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering internal capabilities to ensure the long-term sustainment of Agile practices.
  • Provide direct, role-based coaching and mentorship to Product Managers and Product Owners to elevate their strategic and tactical execution.
  • Build trust and maintain strong relationships with key leaders to ensure alignment on priorities and transformation strategy.
  • Other duties assigned by leadership.
