About The Position

Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, currently has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Patent Agent/Patent Associate in our Intellectual Property Practice Group in our Los Angeles or Orange County office. GT is consistently among the top firms on the Am Law Global 100; the Patent Agent/Associate will have the opportunity to work with clients, large and small, from a variety of industries across the country. The LA team has a dynamic and continually growing practice focused on a broad range of intellectual property matters. This position will support the IP Practice working on the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios.

Requirements

• 3 or more years of focused experience in the following areas:
• Drafting utility and design patent applications in: Computer/electronics arts (e.g., software, AI/ML/LLMs, telecommunications, integrated circuits, semiconductors, audio processing, batteries and charging systems, power generation, etc.) Mechanical/electromechanical arts (e.g., aerospace, space, consumer products, medical devices, etc.)
• Prosecuting patent applications
• Candidates should be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark office.
• If an attorney, candidates should be admitted to practice in California.
• Candidates must have excellent academic credentials, be comfortable working directly with clients, and possess strong writing and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

• Strong experience drafting complex patent applications in any of the technical areas listed above is a plus.
• Candidates with a degree or an advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering and/or computer science are preferred, although candidates with degrees in mechanical engineering or other relevant experience will also be considered.
