About The Position

Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, currently has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Patent Agent/Patent Associate in our Intellectual Property Practice Group in our Los Angeles or Orange County office. GT is consistently among the top firms on the Am Law Global 100; the Patent Agent/Associate will have the opportunity to work with clients, large and small, from a variety of industries across the country. The LA team has a dynamic and continually growing practice focused on a broad range of intellectual property matters. A unique and compelling feature of our law firm is that we offer a strong local presence, but also with a national and global platform that allows us to help our clients on their most interesting and complex IP issues. This position will support the IP Practice working on the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of focused experience in the following areas:
  • Drafting utility and design patent applications in: Computer/electronics arts (e.g., software, AI/ML/LLMs, telecommunications, integrated circuits, semiconductors, audio processing, batteries and charging systems, power generation, etc.) Mechanical/electromechanical arts (e.g., aerospace, space, consumer products, medical devices, etc.)
  • Prosecuting patent applications
  • Candidates should be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark office.
  • If an attorney, candidates should be admitted to practice in California.
  • Candidates must have excellent academic credentials, be comfortable working directly with clients, and possess strong writing and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience drafting complex patent applications in any of the technical areas listed above is a plus.
  • Candidates with a degree or an advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering and/or computer science are preferred, although candidates with degrees in mechanical engineering or other relevant experience will also be considered.
