About The Position

Scion is seeking a driven and curious Investments Intern to support our Investments team as we continue to grow the nation’s highest-quality student housing portfolio. This internship offers hands-on exposure to commercial real estate, financial modeling, market research, and the full investment lifecycle—from acquisition to optimization to disposition. As an Investments Intern, you’ll work closely with team members across Capital Markets, Asset Management, and Property Operations. You’ll gain meaningful experience analyzing real projects, assisting in investment evaluation, and contributing to strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This is an exceptional opportunity for students interested in real estate, finance, or capital markets to gain real-world transaction experience. At the end of your internship, you will have obtained the following experience:

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with interest in financial modeling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with real estate fundamentals is a plus but not required.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and an eagerness to learn.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be willing to work full-time for the full 10-week term of the program, beginning June 9, 2025.
  • Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required. We do not offer sponsorship for this position.
  • All positions require pre-employment background check verification and a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • familiarity with real estate fundamentals is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and updating financial models to analyze prospective real estate acquisition opportunities.
  • Support sensitivity and scenario analyses to evaluate the impact of various assumptions on investment performance.
  • Conduct research on economic, demographic, and market trends to support investment decision-making.
  • Help compile, review, and summarize due diligence materials such as financial statements, leases, reports, and operational data.
  • Assist in the preparation of investment memos, presentations, and internal reporting using Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools.
  • Collaborate with other Capital Markets verticals to support ongoing investment optimization initiatives.
  • Support cross-functional coordination with Asset Management and Operations to ensure smooth transition of newly acquired communities.
  • Provide general team support on special projects and other analytical tasks as needed.
