About The Position

The Inventory Control Specialist manages the technical aspects of parts inventory supporting farm equipment maintenance and repair operations. This role ensures accurate stock levels, traceability, cost control, and availability of OEM and aftermarket parts to minimize equipment downtime and support preventive maintenance programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical, mechanical, or agricultural training preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory control, maintenance parts, or ag/mechanical operations
  • Working knowledge of farm equipment systems (engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, electrical)
  • Experience with CMMS/ERP systems and barcode inventory systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to read parts diagrams, service manuals, and technical documentation
  • Effective communication with maintenance and operations teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in high-demand or peak-season environments

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate real-time inventory records for mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and consumable parts
  • Establish and manage min/max stock levels, reorder points, and safety stock
  • Perform cycle counts and annual physical inventories; investigate and resolve variances
  • Use inventory management systems to issue, receive, and adjust parts
  • Maintain part numbers, cross-references, supersessions, and vendor equivalents
  • Generate inventory, usage, and cost reports for management review
  • Receive and inspect incoming parts for accuracy, damage, and specification compliance
  • Verify packing slips, purchase orders, and invoices
  • Tag, label, barcode, and properly store parts according to manufacturer and safety standards
  • Coordinate closely with mechanics and maintenance supervisors to forecast parts demand
  • Create, issue, and manage work orders for all maintenance, or replenishment activities.
  • Stage parts for scheduled maintenance and major repairs
  • Identify obsolete, slow-moving, or high-failure-rate parts
  • Maintain organized, clean, and OSHA-compliant parts storage areas
  • Follow farm safety, environmental, and chemical handling procedures
  • Properly store lubricants, filters, batteries, and hazardous materials
