About The Position

This role is responsible for the coordination of warehousing, purchasing/receiving, and handling of materials. It involves overseeing the transport of materials to and from locations and ensuring all material needs are met. The individual will accept and sign for incoming deliveries from distributors and/or suppliers, process returns for any defective or incorrect items, and check shipping invoices to ensure all items are accounted for. Collaboration with plant management to determine supply needs and prepare purchase orders is key. The position also involves contacting sellers or distributors to resolve shipment discrepancies, ensuring inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, and maintaining Kanban’s. Processing transfers for shipments relocating to other locations and handling invoice payments upon receipt of delivery are also part of the role. The Inventory Control/Materials Lead will maintain records of all received shipments, conduct inventory of all plant direct and indirect materials, and log data into the inventory database. Communication with distributors regarding shipment delays or problems is required, as is working with the Inventory Control Clerk to keep the stock room clean, organized, and fully stocked. Reporting major or unresolved shipment issues to plant management and assisting with unloading, storing, restocking, and shelving delivery items as needed are also responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to demonstrate organizational skills and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare basic reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal form.
  • Ability to show information in presentation or diagram form.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 40+ pounds.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory software systems for the purpose of shipping and billing.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Six or more months of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and higher education strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience receiving in materials from a purchasing order in the inventory program strongly preferred.

  • Work with Inventory Control Clerk to ensure stock room is clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Report any major or unresolved shipment delays or problems to plant management.
  • Assist with unloading shipments from delivery truck as needed.
  • Store, restock, and shelf delivery items as needed.
