This role is responsible for the coordination of warehousing, purchasing/receiving, and handling of materials. It involves overseeing the transport of materials to and from locations and ensuring all material needs are met. The individual will accept and sign for incoming deliveries from distributors and/or suppliers, process returns for any defective or incorrect items, and check shipping invoices to ensure all items are accounted for. Collaboration with plant management to determine supply needs and prepare purchase orders is key. The position also involves contacting sellers or distributors to resolve shipment discrepancies, ensuring inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, and maintaining Kanban’s. Processing transfers for shipments relocating to other locations and handling invoice payments upon receipt of delivery are also part of the role. The Inventory Control/Materials Lead will maintain records of all received shipments, conduct inventory of all plant direct and indirect materials, and log data into the inventory database. Communication with distributors regarding shipment delays or problems is required, as is working with the Inventory Control Clerk to keep the stock room clean, organized, and fully stocked. Reporting major or unresolved shipment issues to plant management and assisting with unloading, storing, restocking, and shelving delivery items as needed are also responsibilities.
