About The Position

The Lead Inventory & Materials Supervisor serves as the site-level leader for inventory integrity and material flow. This role goes beyond daily oversight to lead the execution of site logistics while actively contributing to the development of regional or organizational inventory strategies. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Lead Materials Supervisor ensures that material movement is not only efficient but also scalable, making decisions that directly impact production uptime, financial accuracy, and supply chain agility.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in inventory, warehousing, or materials management, with at least 2 years in leadership or "Lead" capacity within manufacturing or food production.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field or Equivalent experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and inventory management software; ability to leverage data for root-cause analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience managing hourly teams and influencing cross-functional peers.
  • APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing site-level material SOPs that align with broader corporate supply chain and finance objectives.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of materials at the site, making independent decisions on space optimization, workflow prioritization, and labor allocation.
  • Act as a strategic liaison between Operations, Cost Accounting, Procurement, and Finance to ensure audit readiness and proactive material availability.
  • Direct and mentor the shipping, receiving, and inventory teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and professional growth.
  • Serve as the primary architect for site-level cycle counting; analyze count data to identify systemic trends and recommend structural process improvements.
  • Lead all physical inventory events; partner with Cost Accounting to investigate high-level variances and implement long-term corrective actions to minimize loss.
  • Design and refine warehouse layouts using 5S and Lean principles to maximize storage density and minimize material handling touches.
  • Direct the Shipping, Receiving, and Cross-Dock functions, ensuring that site-level execution supports the broader multi-site network.
  • Set KPIs for the materials team; lead coaching and performance reviews to build a high-performing, flexible workforce.
  • Own the safety culture within material storage areas, ensuring all equipment and workflows meet or exceed OSHA and company standards.
  • Partner with Procurement to refine stocking parameters, safety stock levels, and replenishment signals based on production trends and site constraints.
  • Forecast material needs for consumables and non-BOM items to prevent operational bottlenecks.
  • Identify and lead projects (e.g., implementing new ERP modules, automating tracking, or streamlining vendor return processes).
