About The Position

The Inventory Control Manager is a foundational leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and visibility of all warehouse inventory processes from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated and experienced inventory professional to build a best-in-class inventory management system. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who can take ownership of establishing inventory control processes, creating a comprehensive cycle counting program, conducting rigorous audits and reconciliations, and performing root-cause analysis of discrepancies. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of WMS functionality, ERP systems, financial acumen, strong analytical skills, and proven leadership in a distribution or warehouse environment.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years experience in warehouse, distribution, or inventory control roles.
  • Minimum 3 years supervising inventory or warehouse personnel.
  • Proven experience implementing new WMS features or designing new inventory processes.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and industry best practices (APICS certification is a plus).
  • Experience with WMS platforms (WithoutWire or similar preferred) and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; highly comfortable with data analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel; Power BI experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced environment and manage change effectively.

Responsibilities

  • System Design & Implementation Lead the design and implementation of new, efficient inventory systems and workflows.
  • Create real-time feedback mechanisms and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to drive behavioral changes among staff, ensuring adherence to new logic.
  • Configure and optimize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to support new inventory control methodologies, location controls, and workflow standards.
  • Ensure all inventory records are accurate, timely, and aligned with physical counts.
  • Maintain a high-accuracy perpetual inventory system with minimal adjustments.
  • Lead daily, weekly, and monthly cycle count processes.
  • Oversee full physical inventories for client and company owned inventory.
  • Establish, lead and manage a comprehensive cycle count program.
  • Develop and manage an ABC classification structure to determine count frequency.
  • Work with warehouse supervisors to schedule counting activities efficiently.
  • Ensure counts are completed within established timeframes and quality standards.
  • Track results and identify patterns of recurring discrepancies for continuous improvement.
  • Investigate all inventory discrepancies, including stockouts, overages, and missing items.
  • Conduct systematic root-cause analysis to eliminate repeat issues at the source.
  • Collaborate with Inbound and Outbound teams to verify receiving, putaway, picking, and shipping accuracy.
  • Ensure timely adjustment and documentation of inventory corrections with finance approval.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on warehouse inventory-related system functionality.
  • Partner with IT, Operations, and Finance to improve WMS control processes, ensure proper inventory transfer to ERP, and build necessary reporting dashboards.
  • Utilizing industry best practices, create robust SOPs and a comprehensive training program for warehouse staff on proper system usage to prevent errors.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that leverage technology to enhance inventory control and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain strict adherence to developed SOPs related to inventory management and control.
  • Support internal and external audits for clients and finance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives tied to KPIs related to accuracy, productivity, and transparency.
  • Indirect leadership and development of inventory control staff.
  • Set clear expectations, KPIs, and accountability standards across the operation teams regarding inventory practices and adherence.
  • Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to support cross-functional inventory activities.
  • Build strong partnerships with the Inbound, Outbound, Production/Reman, Finance, IT and Quality teams to foster a culture of inventory ownership and engagement.
