About The Position

Corporate Inventory Control Manager Position Summary The Corporate Inventory Control Manager is responsible for establishing, enforcing, and continuously improving inventory control and freight processes across all Crane1 locations. This role owns enterprise-wide inventory accuracy, material flow discipline, freight coordination, and inventory reporting, ensuring Crane1 maintains optimal inventory levels, minimizes working capital exposure, and supports safe, timely field and shop operations. This position serves as the single point of accountability for inventory integrity and freight execution across branches, fabrication shops, and service locations. Salary: $95k-$115k

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of inventory control or materials management experience in a multi-site environment
  • Proven experience managing enterprise inventory systems and controls
  • Strong understanding of freight, logistics, and material flow
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, and Purchasing
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 30 lbs and occasionally lift over 50 lbs (with assistance).
  • Comfortable working in a partially climate-controlled warehouse environment.

  • ERP experience (Sage 300, Infor, SAP, or similar)
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or inventory management certifications (CPIM, CSCP, CPSM)

Responsibilities

  • Own and standardize inventory control policies, procedures, and KPIs across all Crane1 locations
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counting programs, physical inventories, and root-cause analysis
  • Establish and enforce inventory transaction discipline (receipts, issues, transfers, returns, adjustments)
  • Monitor excess & obsolete (E&O) inventory and lead reduction strategies
  • Define min/max, reorder points, and stocking strategies in coordination with Purchasing and Operations
  • Partner with branch leadership to ensure consistent execution of inventory controls
  • Own inbound and outbound freight processes related to inventory movement
  • Coordinate freight for inter-branch transfers, supplier shipments, and inventory replenishment
  • Ensure proper freight classification, documentation, and cost allocation
  • Monitor freight spend tied to inventory and identify cost-reduction opportunities
  • Partner with Purchasing on carrier performance, damage claims, and delivery compliance
  • Maintain inventory integrity within ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300 or equivalent)
  • Develop and publish enterprise inventory dashboards and reports (accuracy, turns, aging, E&O, freight cost)
  • Ensure inventory and freight data supports financial close, audits, and operational decision-making
  • Lead corrective actions for inventory variances and systemic issues
  • Serve as the primary inventory control liaison between Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and Service
  • Support branch managers and supervisors with training and accountability
  • Participate in new location onboarding, acquisitions, and system rollouts related to inventory
  • Support safety and compliance standards related to material handling and storage
  • Identify process gaps and implement standardized best practices
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy, turns, and freight efficiency
  • Support internal and external audits related to inventory and logistics
  • Enforce compliance with Crane1 purchasing, inventory, and freight policies
