About The Position

This full-time position is for an Interventional Radiology Technologist at Riley Hospital for Children, working four 10-hour days with some on-call duties. The role involves assisting radiologists/interventionalists in various interventional procedures, including acting as a scrub tech when appropriate. The technologist is responsible for adhering to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, and for following radiation safety protocols, being aware of patient dose alert levels and escalation procedures. The position requires an understanding and knowledge of complex procedures, the ability to determine appropriate supplies for procedures, and to set up sterile fields. Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional and vascular anatomy is essential. The technologist must communicate and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (including critical care, ED, Trauma, IP, OP, Nursing, Oncology, Transplant, GI, Neurosurgery, etc.) and document necessary information in the EMR. A new hire bonus is available for qualified candidates.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and supplies used during interventional exams
  • Active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography, RT(R), through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Radiologic Technologist
