About The Position

This full-time Interventional Radiology Technologist position is located at Riley Hospital for Children, working 4-10 hour day shifts with some on-call duties. A new hire bonus is available for qualified candidates. The role involves assisting radiologists/interventionalists in procedures, acting as a scrub tech when appropriate, and adhering to safety and infection control protocols. The technologist is responsible for following radiation safety protocols, understanding complex procedures, determining appropriate supplies, setting up sterile fields, and possessing advanced knowledge of cross-sectional and vascular anatomy. Effective communication and teamwork within a multi-disciplinary team (including critical care, ED, Trauma, IP, OP, Nursing, Oncology, Transplant, GI, Neurosurgery) are essential, as is documenting information in the EMR. Requirements

  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning
  • Requires knowledge of sterile technique and supplies used during interventional exams
  • Requires active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography, RT(R), through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Requires current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Radiologic Technologist

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to obtain advanced credential in interventional radiography, if applicable
  • Experience as a radiologic technologist, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists radiologist/interventionalist in interventional procedures including acting as scrub tech where appropriate
  • Adheres to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
  • Follows radiation safety protocols and is aware of patient dose alert levels and escalation procedure
  • Understands and has knowledge of complex procedures
  • Demonstrates ability to determine appropriate supplies for procedure and sets up sterile field
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of cross sectional and vascular anatomy
  • Communicates and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (critical care, ED, Trauma, IP, OP, Nursing, Oncology, Transplant, GI, Neurosurgery, etc)
  • Documents necessary information in EMR
