About The Position

The Intervention Teacher Fellow will work closely with our Middle School students, providing targeted support in Math, Science, and SummitK12 programming. This role is essential in fostering strong student relationships and maintaining exceptional classroom management to create an environment where every scholar can thrive. By emphasizing the importance of preparing for the upcoming STAAR exam and setting high expectations for growth, this fellow will empower students to achieve meaningful progress in math and science, helping them build confidence, resilience, and a love for learning.

Requirements

  • Have at least a High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience
  • Pass a criminal background check

Responsibilities

  • Set academic expectations that challenge and create productive struggle.
  • Persist with the lesson, ask probing questions, and address student mistakes until there is evidence that students demonstrate mastery of the objective.
  • Consistently implement an 80/20 classroom where 80% of the time students are engaged in rigorous practice, different types of thinking, and doing the heavy cognitive lift to take the initiative of their own learning.
  • Convey accurate content knowledge in multiple contexts.
  • Integrate learning objectives with other disciplines.
  • Always presents content that is reflective of and affirming to students' identities and brings awareness to global context.
  • Adapt lessons to address the individual needs of all students and provide differentiated instructional methods and content to ensure students have the opportunity to master what is being taught.
  • Procedures, routines, and transitions are clear and efficient to create a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment.
  • Consistently engages in community and restorative circles with students.
  • The teacher builds trust authentically and cares for the whole child as well as the family unit the child is a part of.
  • Advocates for the needs of students in the classroom.
  • Meet professional standards by the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators and Compass Rose Employee handbook/policies. (e.g., attendance, professional appearance, and behaviors, timeliness to work, meeting deadlines, using discretion with confidential information, using good judgment in performing responsibilities)
  • Set short- and long-term professional goals based on self-assessment, reflection, and supervisor feedback.
  • Engage in professional learning communities and meetings
  • participate actively in a minimum number of student recruitment events annually (as determined and network and school guidance).
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regularly regarding and not limited to academics, attendance, social-emotional well-being, etc.
  • Exemplify the mission, vision, and goals of the school to students, colleagues, parents, and families.
