(Sturgeon Electric) – a subsidiary of MYR Group Inc. – has provided complex, large-scale electrical construction services for our clients throughout the western United States. As a full-service electrical provider, we offer industry leading electrical transmission, commercial and industrial, and renewable energy services. Sturgeon Electric has two divisions, offering both powerline construction and commercial/industrial electrical construction, making it a full-service electrical provider. Sturgeon Electric’s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) electrical construction division specializes in large-scale commercial electrical projects, telecommunications, traffic signalization, gas distribution, high voltage distribution service and maintenance to clients. We also offer design-build and pre-construction services and has in-house pre-fabrication and AutoCAD capabilities.

Requirements

  • College sophomore or above working towards a related undergraduate degree or be currently enrolled in or attending trade school. If you are a recent graduate, you must be within 1 year of your graduation date.
  • No experience required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and give presentations.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to communicate with employees and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled in a Construction Management program or pursuing a Construction Engineering Management Certificate is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Compose RFIs, manage RFI logs, and review RFIs for cost impact
  • Manage POs, vendor tracking, and releases
  • Assist with the review of plans and specifications and prepare a checklist of contract features which require periodic attention
  • List items the sub-contractor must submit for approval prior to the start of the work
  • Estimating & Project Scheduling
  • Participation in the Lunch & Learn internship program provided by the MYR Group Internship Leadership team.
  • Prior to the end of their internship, the intern will create and present a self-reflection project detailing their gained industry knowledge, future career goals, as well as personal and professional growth. The presentation will be provided in PowerPoint and presented to their direct management team.
