About The Position

This dynamic and interdisciplinary role supports the success of students across Exercise Science, Sport Management, Esports, Nutrition, and Health and Exercise Science programs. The Internship Placement Coordinator is responsible for designing, supervising, and evaluating internship and practicum experiences that reflect the evolving landscape of sport, health, and performance, including traditional athletics and emerging fields like Esports. This position also includes responsibilities in teaching, advising, and fostering strategic partnerships with faculty and industry professionals across sport management, sport analytics, nutrition and nutrition science, health and exercise science, and Esports to prepare students for careers in high-demand, data-driven sectors of the sport, health, and performance industries. This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Exercise Science, Sport Management, Nutrition, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in academic advising and/or career advising, preferably in the exercise, health care, or sport industry.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and industry professionals.
  • Experience mentoring college students and supporting their academic and career development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in both academic advising and career services.
  • Competent computer skills and familiarity with digital tools for advising, data analysis, and internship management.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to student success and innovation in sport and health education.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise undergraduate internships and field placements across Exercise Science, Sport Management, Esports, Sport Analytics and Nutrition programs. Serve as liaison to placement agencies.
  • Manage internship infrastructure: maintain databases, contracts, manuals, and digital platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with academic and industry standards.
  • Teach college wide professional development skills courses and skills workshops.
  • Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to integrate real-world data and case studies into curriculum.
  • Provide academic advising and career mentoring to students pursuing careers in sport, health, and performance industries.
  • Assist the Industry Relations and Career Services Manager with administrative tasks and strategic planning.
