Internal Communications Intern
About The Position
Join TxDOT’s Internal Communications team as an intern and play a key role in connecting and informing over 13,000 employees across Texas. You’ll gain hands-on experience in crafting impactful messages about agency events, policies, and campaigns while collaborating with a talented team of writers, designers, and content managers. This is a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of strategic communication and contribute to projects that make a real difference statewide. Please note that while technical skills are appreciated, a willingness to learn and an interest in websites and digital communications is most valuable.
Requirements
- Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution.
- Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school.
- Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- An eagerness to learn from experts across different fields
Responsibilities
- Assist with curating, editing and posting content for TN Network, TxDOT's internal digital signage and video network
- Collaborate with internal clients and cross-functional teams to fulfill project tasks
- Update and edit content for intranet site pages using content management system (CMS), while ensuring all content meets digital accessibility standards
- Upload and maintain intranet site assets to digital asset management system (DAM)
- Respond to questions and requests from division and district points of contact regarding intranet site
- Compose informational emails for distribution agencywide
- Assist with photography, video capture and editing
- Perform other duties as assigned
