About The Position

Conducts audits of accounting and financial data across various departments within gaming operations, as well as operational and internal control audits, to ensure accuracy and compliance with tribal, state, and federal guidelines and laws.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in auditing gaming facilities, or a combination of both.
  • Understand accounting and auditing principles and standards, along with familiarity with various computer systems and applications.
  • Must have strong skills in complete fact-finding, analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to work any shift and/or days necessary to help all personnel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary for effective reporting and public speaking.
  • Have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, along with mature judgment and a proactive initiative.
  • Must possess a conceptual understanding of the following: Ø National Indian Gaming Commission Minimum Internal Control Standards Ø Tribal Gaming Ordinance Ø Tribal Internal Control Standards Ø State Compact Ø Governing Licensee Compliance and Enforcement Ø Bank Secrecy Act and U.S. Patriot Act concerning Title 31 Ø Suspicious Activity Reports on Casino Activity Ø Casino Departmental Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure confidentiality throughout the department.
  • Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Commission, which requires a full background check.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and hold regular meetings with the Internal Audit Manager to discuss issues and findings from audits.
  • Evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and company policies to ensure the safeguarding of Tribal assets.
  • Identify accounting errors or documentation issues, research them, and recommend improvements to policies or procedures.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to resolve discrepancies and assist with the auditing process.
  • Stay updated on the National Indian Gaming Commission's Minimum Internal Control Standards, Tribal Minimum Internal Control Standards, State Compact regulations, and the policies and procedures of the gaming facility. Additionally, be aware of any future regulations that may apply to ensure that the casino's operations remain compliant.
  • Assist in executing various special projects that require collaboration with all levels of management.
  • Perform other duties and projects as required by management
