About The Position

Major Duties and Responsibilities: Performs assigned audit procedures and report findings to the Supervisory Committee and credit union management. Performs evaluations of the Credit Union's internal control systems by maintenance of permanent files incorporating narrative descriptions, flowcharts, memos, etc.; reports findings and recommendations. Performs financial audit procedures on the credit union's records and reports findings and recommendations. Keep abreast of regulatory changes and assist management with implementing necessary changes to issue compliance. Performs other related duties as assigned. Expectations: To achieve/receive a Level 2 or higher rating from the annual examination in every category. To provide accurate assessments on the Credit Union's business risks, financial statements, system of internal controls, and level of compliance with policies, regulations and applicable laws. To build relationships through the Credit Union to ensure concerns are identified and resolved in a timely manner. To perform audits and prepare audit reports which identify problems, make recommendations, and help facilitate resolutions. To include fraud detection steps in audit programs; investigate allegations of fraud, and review fraud prevention controls and detection processes put in place by management, make recommendations for improvement and corrections or enhancements needed to maintain and improve effective and compliant operations. To maintain files and supporting documentation for audits and other assignments. To assist external auditors and other regulating agencies as requested. To identify and qualify key business risks to estimate the probability of occurrences and the impact on the Credit Union and make appropriate recommendations.

Requirements

  • Five years to ten years of similar or related experience.
  • A college degree preferred.
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
  • Solid knowledge in all areas of accounting and audit procedures and the ability to work independently
  • Must have a working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software; must be able to use a PC and all types of general office equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • certification as a certified public accountant or a certified internal auditor preferred.
