About The Position

The Summer Intern – Manufacturing Engineering supports operations by assisting with equipment maintenance, process improvements, and basic tool design and modification under the guidance of experienced engineers. Responsibilities may include conducting routine inspections and maintenance, collecting and analyzing operational data, assisting in troubleshooting, modifying, and optimizing equipment and processes. This role provides hands on exposure to battery manufacturing technologies while developing fundamental engineering skills in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Some experience with Computer Aided Design Software (e.g., SolidWorks) for part design and mock-up.
  • Some basic machining, soldering, and fabrication experience.
  • Detail-oriented and eager to learn in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Willingness to jump in, ask questions, and work collaboratively across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Supports with the regular maintenance, repair, and selection of laboratory equipment and manufacturing machinery.
  • Ensures minimal operational downtime and equipment longevity through proper equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Lead part design and fabrication projects in collaboration with Engineering Team.
  • Improves operational efficiency by designing and fabricating new and replacement tools and parts.
  • Participates in the planning and execution of facility modifications and upgrades.
  • Proper planning ensures equipment can be quickly commissioned and safely and effectively operated onsite.
  • Manufacturing process assistance and optimization.
  • Participation with electrode coating and cell assembly will instill a holistic understanding of our manufacturing processes and enable meaningful input on equipment and process improvements or optimization.
  • Assists engineering team with equipment maintenance, repair, and modification.
  • Leads part design and fabrication projects with the oversight of engineering team.
  • Works with internal and external engineers on facility modifications and upgrades.
  • Participates in cross-functional meetings and documents updates or action items.
  • Completes assigned tasks on-site at the Los Angeles facility during the internship period.
