About The Position

Penn National Insurance is now collecting applications for our 2026 Intern Program which is aimed at providing an opportunity for a student in a related degree program to work within company operations first-hand with the goal of career development. The Intern will apply skills related to the concepts, principles, and methodologies of their associated major. This internship will exposure the student to projects and assignments where they can apply knowledge and higher order thinking skills (critical thinking, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, complex problem solving) to real world situations. Internships may be available in our Harrisburg, PA and Greensboro, NC locations. Requirements

  • Pursuit of college/university major in relation to internship specialty
  • Good math aptitude
  • Good research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Good PC skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be a self-starter with an ability to learn
  • This position is primarily a sedentary position that requires occasional standing and walking throughout the office environment.
  • Must be able to see and effectively use a computer monitor.
  • Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard and applicable printers and other general office equipment.
  • Must be able to access and enter information accurately using automated systems.
  • Must be able to hear and communicate via the telephone and/or monitoring devices to both internal and external clients.
  • Must be able to present information to individuals and groups.
  • Must be able to interpret and apply concepts that may or may not be based upon established guidelines.
  • Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance and adhere to scheduled work hours.

Responsibilities

  • The intern will have a detailed work plan provided by the division outlining the project, assignments and overview of the planned timeframe of the internship.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the assigned Manager.
