Essential job functions include, but are not limited to: Maintenance and Preparation of Field and Laboratory Equipment Fieldwork; collecting data, samples, and specimens from shorelines, wadable streams and forests. Laboratory Analysis including samples preparation, analysis, and data entry. Follow written Laboratory SOPs as well as GRDA policy. Safley operate motorized vehicles, watercraft, and trailers. Skills, Knowledge, Qualities: Basic understanding of water quality parameters and their importance to aquatic ecology Basic Laboratory skill including pipetting, measuring, weighing, and dispensing liquids; identification of basic glassware. Plant and Animal identification Knowledge of computers including Microsoft office suite. Effective communication and teamwork skills Education, Training, Experience: Junior or Senior college student pursing study in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Ecology, or any other related fields Coursework or educational interest in in chemistry, genetics, aquatic ecology, limnology, hydrology, and other related fields Experience designing and conducting research preferred. Certificates, Registrations, Licenses: Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license. Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions: Candidate must have mental acuity to take accurate measurements, read and understand technical materials, procedures and quickly make determinations about incoming data. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, lab coats, PFDs.). Work outside in all types of weather conditions. Must possess mental, visual, and auditory acuity for attention to visual and auditory detail. Manual dexterity is required for the operation of test equipment, small tools, and field and laboratory procedures. Must be able to stand and walk on cement floors, uneven ground, slippery surfaces, and steep slopes. Must be able to swim and be comfortable working in and around water. Other information: Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 Hrs./Week Position is in the NSU Health Science Building, Tahlequah OK This position is defined as “safety sensitive” subject to pre-employment drug screening. Requirements
