This role requires a commitment of 4 days in-office per week at our facility in Garden Grove, CA as well as full-time hours (40 hours a week). Duration: 10-11 weeks (May 26 to August 7 OR June 22 to August 28) Relocation Support: A $1,000 relocation stipend is available for interns currently residing more than 50 miles from Garden Grove, CA. Compensation: Earn an hourly rate of $25-35 USD per hour. Job Overview As a thermal intern, you will help the thermal team in the design and development of the thermal system of our commercial truck. Your responsibilities will include component sizing and analysis, system and component level testing, supplier communication and vehicle build activities. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in thermal systems and fluid mechanics, and wants to gain high-level knowledge of the automotive engineering processes.

Requirements

  • A student or recent graduate with a Bachelor’s in Engineering
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and keen interest in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and structures
  • Experience with 3D CAD softwares (SolidWorks/ Fusion 360/ CATIA etc.)
  • Someone with a collaborative mindset to contribute many cross-functional tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar using Matlab and Simulink for data processing and 1D simulation is considered a plus
  • Hands-on experience working on engineering projects (FSAE or others) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute testing campaigns on the thermal system on the component and system level
  • Design thermal components in 3D CAD and help with vehicle integration activities
  • Work with suppliers to help refine the thermal system for high-volume production
  • Learn about and get involved with thermal system architecture, analysis and component sizing
  • Support vehicle build activities and vehicle testing for the thermal system
  • Interface with cross functional teams and gain a deep understanding of automotive EV systems and engineering processes
