Since its launch in 2007, the Publix Summer Internship Program prepares a cohort of young professionals for a smorgasbord of opportunities in the workplace. This is achieved through relationship building, development of self-confidence, and insight into industry knowledge. The 2026 Summer program dates are May 18 th – July 24 th at our company facilities in Lakeland, FL. Over these 10 weeks, interns will work 40 hours a week participating in impactful departmental projects that connect classroom learning to real-world corporate experience. Position Overview The Pharmacy Business Development department identifies, vets and manages new business initiatives and relationships that drive innovative, customer-focused solutions. By collaborating with internal teams and third-party vendors, the department supports the adoption of industry-leading products and services. The team manages recommendation and implementation projects and partners across departments to track outcomes and deliver measurable results. The Pharmacy Business Development Intern will contribute to all stages of project and vendor management assist with advancing departmental infrastructure collaborate with team members to develop key performance indicators for implemented projects and facilitate team collaboration and communication.

Requirements

must be an actively enrolled student not graduating prior to the start of the Summer Internship Program in May; or if graduating from a bachelor's degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester; or if graduating from a master’s degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester)
must be pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in pharmacy, business, or related field and be a current sophomore or above (rising junior or above as of the program start in Summer 2026) or a graduate student
must basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and One Note
strong written and verbal communication skills
strong attention to detail
ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
experience working in cross-functional teams
flexibility to adapt to changing project needs

Nice To Haves

Current or previous Publix associate
Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern
Have a working knowledge of Power BI or other automation and data visualization

Responsibilities

Self-study existing Pharmacy programs, services and products
Perform competitive market research on key pharmacy products and services
Assist in the planning and execution of new initiatives
Prepare business case analyses
Coordinate meetings with stakeholders
Support vendor evaluations and comparisons
Coordinate and update departmental project management records
Create templates and other support materials
Develop project reporting tools
Automate project management processes
Collaborate with teams to develop key performance indicators for implemented projects
Prepare and communicate project updates, meeting agendas and minutes and dashboards
Coordinate the completion of assigned team tasks
