About The Position

The Intern will participate in a new construction shipbuilding project. Attendance will be at the shipyard where the project is on-going daily in the vicinity of Panama City, Florida. This is a remote position based on the management team domiciled on-site at the shipyard. Offices are provided on the yard for the construction oversight team.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Attending college courses with an engineering, marine or naval architecture curriculum.
  • strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients and customers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions given in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Regular and physical presence on-site at the shipyard where the project is being executed in Panama City, Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Various field duties and inspections will be attended with multiple disciplines represented where experience will be gained.
  • Assist management with daily tasks such as taking meeting notes, entering data into the system for tracking and fulfillment of various observations, attend inspections when available.
  • Responsible for functions that may involve engineering research, tracking and verifying deficiencies, attend project meetings.
  • Shadow inspectors on daily walk-throughs to obtain practical knowledge from each.
  • Take photos during daily walk-throughs.
  • Log and label photos accordingly.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties that may be needed under the direction of management.
  • Complete weekly bullets and submit to Project Manager along with pictures and duties carried out for the week.
  • Utilize Project Management software to receive and catalog drawings, reports, and other general documentation received via the project team.
