Lanteris Space Systems is seeking a Mechanical/Thermal Engineering Intern to support the design and development of our spacecraft systems. The primary location is Palo Alto, CA; however, occasional work in San Jose, CA, may be needed. The role will contribute to the development, analysis and production of satellite thermal systems, sub-assemblies, and components. What You’ll Be Doing: The role may include a variety of projects, such as Front-end thermal design, calculations, model development and simulation Thermal hardware design, drawing development, production and integration Development of thermal test requirements and documentation Thermal test preparations, setup and execution Trending and analysis of on-orbit spacecraft data Infrared imaging and post-processing Development of tools and documentation to improve work processes

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with completion of two years or more, or a Master's degree program, in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or similar suite
  • Interest in aerospace or mechanical design
  • Ability to work on-site in Palo Alto, CA and/or San Jose, CA
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and leadership skills
  • Group project experience, ability to collaborate with team members of different technical disciplines
  • Strong computer skills, preferably familiarity with Python, MATLAB, Sharepoint, Thermal Desktop, PTC Creo and/or AutoCAD
  • Completion of college-level heat transfer and/or mechanical design courses
  • Experience or interest in process improvements
