Intern - Infrastructure & Network Observability
About The Position
The Zayo Summer Internship Program is designed to cultivate the next generation of telecommunications professionals. Interns will gain meaningful, hands-on experience within a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative environment. Our goal is to empower, develop, and connect our interns while fostering fresh perspectives and ideas that will drive our organization forward. Responsibilities Help configure monitoring for servers and cloud infrastructure Support dashboard creation using Prometheus and Grafana Assist with log management and search using OpenSearch Help validate alerts and reduce monitoring gaps Document onboarding and monitoring procedures What Success Looks Like Successful onboarding of selected systems into monitoring platforms Functional dashboards or alerts created during internship Improved visibility for a small set of infrastructure components Clear documentation of monitoring configurations Noticeable learning progress over the 5-month period
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, IT, or related field
- Basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS)
- Familiarity with Linux systems
- Interest in monitoring, infrastructure, and performance analysis
- Willingness to learn enterprise monitoring tools
Nice To Haves
- Exposure to monitoring tools (CheckMK, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Basic understanding of SNMP or log monitoring
- Scripting knowledge (Python or Bash)
