About The Position

Bachem’s 10-week Summer Internship Program offers undergraduate and graduate students a hands-on introduction to the pharmaceutical industry at one of the world’s leading, innovation‑driven company specializing in the development and manufacture of peptide and oligonucleotide based active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and related products. Designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience, this program allows interns to apply academic knowledge in a collaborative, research-focused environment while working alongside experienced industry professionals. Throughout the internship, participants will contribute to impactful projects, build technical and professional skills, and gain insight into Bachem’s scientific excellence, quality-driven culture, and global operations. The program will run 10 weeks with Session 1 from May 25-August 14 (California State University Track) and Session 2 from June 22 – September 11 (UC Track). All selected interns will be required to obtain their own housing, travel, and transportation accommodations for the full duration of the internship program. The internship is within the Finance Department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/certificate or equivalent
  • Must be a currently enrolled student at an accredited college or university with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Finance (field of study)
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Able to start on either May 25th or June 22nd
  • Ability to complete the consecutive 10 week internship
  • Must have work authorization in the United States at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a general understanding of Controlling, GPI process, costing, cost analysis, cost planning and overhead management, as well as monitoring capital projects and business partnerships.
  • Support the Finance team with the general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable, payroll processing, monthly closing, external audit engagements, and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Review and refine cost center names and descriptions and assist in identifying and refining cost centers.
  • Assist in the setting up of standard costs for raw materials and perform valuation analyses, including inventory revaluations and standard cost updates.
  • Perform research related to projects, attend capex project meetings, and provide management with updates on project progress.
  • Participate in valuation analyses, including process order calculations and recipe updates.
  • Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.
