Interns will have the opportunity to network within Medica and with other Interns through weekly Lunch and Learns and opportunities to hear from Executives. Each internship offers a meaningful experience and impactful projects you’ll be able to discuss with future employers. At Medica, we look forward to our Summer Internship Program each year. The Finance Intern will provide analytical and administrative support to Corporate Finance, gaining exposure to core accounting and finance functions within a large, regulated organization. This role offers hands‑on experience in areas such as financial reporting, regulatory filings, auditing, and clerical support. The intern will learn how financial transactions flow through the organization, including claims expense processing, payment cycles, bank reconciliations, and the use of various financial systems. This is a great opportunity for a student interested in building practical accounting and finance skills while contributing to day‑to‑day finance operations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current junior or senior pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Foundational understanding of accounting and financial principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to work with spreadsheets and financial data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High ethical standards and professionalism
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and good judgment
  • Well‑organized, self‑directed, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Open to learning, asking questions, and contributing ideas related to process improvement
  • Eligibility to work in the US: Medica does not offer work visa sponsorship for this role. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application. Employment is contingent on verification of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assistance with Regulatory Filings Assist in regulatory filings and analysis
  • Ad Hoc Analysis Prepare reconciliations Investigate and resolve any discrepancies Financial analysis as requested by management
  • Operational and Clerical Support Assist with general ledger entries Support processes related to claims expense and payment cycles Assist with bank reconciliations and data entry tasks Learn and work within multiple finance and accounting systems
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
