Magna’s ADAS technologies are shaping an autonomous future and improving lives. The ADAS Intern/Co-op (onsite) primarily supports ADAS vehicle integration by coordinating prototype vehicle activities (build readiness, installations, scheduling support, and issue tracking) across cross-functional teams. The role also supports deployment and use of ROS-based tools as needed. A strong drive to learn, clear communication, and teamwork are essential.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Comfortable working hands-on in a garage/vehicle environment (installations, instrumentation, calibration support) and able to follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Enrolled in an engineering degree program (Electrical, Automotive, Mechanical, Robotics/Mechatronics, or Computer Science or equivalent)
  • Basic Python programming skills (scripts for automation, data handling, and repeatable workflows).
  • Coursework, projects, or work experience related to ADAS/autonomous systems, sensor integration, or automotive software development.
  • Basic familiarity with a Linux/Ubuntu development environment and version control (Git) is preferred; willingness to learn is required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team setting (tracking actions, following up, and clearly documenting status).
  • Demonstrates drive to learn and take ownership.
  • Familiarity with ADAS/autonomous driving concepts and common sensors (LiDAR, camera, radar, ultrasonic).
  • Comfortable learning and using new tools and processes to support vehicle integration and coordination (training and mentoring provided as needed).
  • Troubleshooting and debugging skills (software and basic hardware integration issues).
  • Good documentation and reporting habits (test logs, build notes, calibration records).
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking mindset
  • Must follow safety procedures for vehicle testing, shop/garage environments, and bench testing environments.
  • Attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with C++ is a plus.
  • Experience with vehicle testing and data collection using tools such as Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, dSPACE, ETAS, or similar toolchains.
  • Experience with vehicle instrumentation and prototype sensor/ECU integration (mounting, harnessing, power/network bring-up) and/or supporting sensor calibration activities.
  • Exposure to ROS/ROS2 tools (e.g., running existing nodes, basic package structure, RViz/rosbag) and ability to deploy/use ROS-based workflows.
  • Working knowledge of creating maintainable, reusable scripts/tools (clear inputs/outputs, basic testing, readable documentation) in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate ADAS prototype vehicle activities across cross‑functional teams (build readiness, scheduling support, parts/tools readiness, stakeholder communication, and issue tracking/closure).
  • Support prototype vehicle-build activities with the Engineering Services team, including RRS PC installation and related vehicle integration tasks.
  • Support End-of-Line (EOL) and USS sensor calibration activities as scheduled, and document calibration outcomes and follow-up actions.
  • Create utilities/tools to support the team (e.g., build/test checklists, data/log organization, basic geometry/FOV calculations, or converting a manual workflow into a repeatable script).
  • Support engineers in vehicle testing activities as a second person (as required), following safety procedures and test plans, and capturing results, issues, and logs.
  • Support deployment and use of ROS‑based tools (training will be provided as needed) to assist with sensor feasibility studies and integration workflows.

Benefits

  • engaging and dynamic environment
  • support and resources they need to succeed
  • exciting, varied responsibilities
  • wide range of development prospects
