United Therapeutics is the first publicly-traded biotech or pharmaceutical company to take the form of a public benefit corporation, dedicated to developing novel pharmaceutical therapies and technologies that expand the availability of transplantable organs. Founded in 1996, the company focuses on treating rare, deadly diseases such as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD), and neuroblastoma. They are also actively working on creating manufactured organs to address the critical shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers for transplant. The internship program offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with talented professionals in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. It provides professional development opportunities, participation in a "Get to Know UT" Speaker Series, ongoing and formal assessments of work, and a chance to make an impactful difference in a patient-centric environment. Interns receive competitive pay for up to 40 hours a week and full access to onsite amenities. The selected intern will be required to report onsite at the RTP office for the entire duration of the program, which runs from May through August 2026. While housing and transportation are not provided, a relocation stipend may be offered to non-local candidates on a case-by-case basis.
