About The Position

The Audio intern at Sight & Sound will be given opportunities to apply classroom knowledge, deepen and expand their practical skills, participate in a wide variety of hands-on experiences through cross department shadowing, and participate in leadership development sessions. Interns will be included in the daily operations of the team with whom they are interning. Specific responsibilities will vary, depending on the internship location and the number of hours the intern will be working each week. This is a full time, paid internship. Housing is not provided, but we provide resources to assist in finding housing opportunities.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, with an accredited post-secondary educational program. Priority will be given to students in the second half of their educational program.
  • Ability to pass a post-offer physical evaluation to determine ability to perform the physical responsibilities of the job.
  • Willingness to work with all Show Operations departments (such as Deck, Lighting, Wardrobe, Stage Management, Animals, Audio, and Cast)
  • Flexibility to support any team as needed, including a wide range of hours.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn through a variety of experiences.
  • Ability to receive both affirming and constructive feedback.
  • This role has specific physical requirements including the ability to transport weight and/or exert force up to 50 pounds frequently, occasionally up to 100 pounds, work with a team or independently to manipulate set pieces, equipment and lighting towers weighing up to and including 18,500 pounds.
  • Passing a post-offer, pre-employment physical will be a requirement of employment.
  • Current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary degree program.

  • Preference will be given to students in the second half of their degree program and to those enrolled in a program specifically aligned with the internship for which they are applying.
  • The ideal candidate must be eager to learn, have a positive attitude, and a willingness to adapt as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about the mission, culture, and daily operations of Sight & Sound Ministries, Inc.
  • Work under the direction of the Deck Supervisor on specific projects that are intended to provide an educational experience, as well a tangible benefit to the team.
  • Learn and execute one or more Stage Technician tracks and run these tracks for multiple shows each week.
  • Meet weekly with Deck department leadership for 1-1 connections.
  • Shadow the other Show Operations departments (Animals, Wardrobe, Lighting, and Stage Management)
  • Attend weekly leadership development sessions with other company interns where leaders from throughout the company will present a variety of leadership and cultural topics.
  • Attend occasional show operations teams, and company meetings, training sessions, and events to gain further understanding of what it looks like to work in a professional theater.
