About The Position

The Space Systems Platforms Division, within the Leidos Defense Kinetic Effects Business Area, currently has an opportunity for a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineer Summer Intern to work at our Huntsville, AL Dynetics campus providing support to the Universal Stage Adapter (USA) program. This is a dynamic opportunity supporting the Structures Systems and Assembly, Integration, and Test teams in which talented interns can thrive working alongside junior and senior engineers on a diverse array of multidisciplinary projects in the space systems arena. Primary Responsibilities Support engineering design and integration activities for aspects of USA Structures Systems. Develop conceptual CAD models and produce engineering drawings (if needed). Work collaboratively with project team(s) to formulate innovative solutions to complex problems and products across a broad range of applications. Support structural testing and analysis (if needed) Support project team(s) across multiple disciplines with the completion of document deliverables. Support the assembly, integration, and test of the USA test article and flight unit

Requirements

  • Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Applicant must be actively enrolled and working toward a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Engineering or similar Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • Applicant must be a US Citizen.
  • Applicant must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Ability to perform physical work such as lifting up to 30-lbs.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use common hand tools.
  • Applicant must be willing to work in-office in Huntsville, AL with travel to Decatur, AL one to two days per week

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD software
  • Desire to solve complex technical problems and learn from a team of experienced engineers
