About The Position

The Department of Operational Support (DOS) was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operating entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from headquarters, peace operations, and regional commissions. The Human Resources Services Division (HRSD) provides dedicated services in support of human resources requirements of client entities, from process development through service delivery. The intern will jointly support the Staffing Innovation team as well as the Non-Staff Capacities Unit, in the Operational Support and Advisory Service (OSAS) in the Human Resources Services Division (HRSD), Office of Support Operations (OSO), Department of Operational Support (DOS). The Intern will report to the Chief of Section, HR Advisory Section 2 / Non-Staff Capacities Unit but may be supervised by a member of the Assessment and Innovation Section or Non-Staff Capacities Unit (if workin New York) or the OICT Inspira Team (if working from Bangkok). The intern works as a full member of our team, pursuing project assignments that are designed to make a significant impact on our work, and has opportunities to learn about the United Nations overall. The internship will focus on the following areas that will contribute to our current main projects: i. Work in close collaboration with the Inspira technical team and SIPI/NSCU in NY in order to contribute to the modernization and streamlining efforts of the Affiliate Personnel Recruitment Module, ii. Support the alignment between Staff and Affiliate Personnel recruitment modules. iii. Assist in training efforts related to changes in the recruitment process (Staff and Affiliate Personnel), iv. Participate in change management initiatives, v. Support training initiatives by way of drafting presentations and briefing material such as one pager information flyers/ cheat sheets/ quick guides and create training videos, vi. Support communication to stakeholders by way of drafting articles for the HR Community of Practice, vii. Contribute to ongoing projects with AI solutions based on user needs and organizational priorities, viii. Support the optimization of the recruitment process by integrating AI solutions into existing recruitment workflows and systems, ix. Support with data analysis x. Monitor, evaluate, and document the progress and outcomes of assigned projects, xi. Supporting the Chief, Assessments and Innovation Section, as well as the Chief of Section Non-Staff Capacities Unit on special projects. xii. Assist in creating and editing videos. xiii. Assist with graphic design, PPT design, photography and photo editing.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: • be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); • be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent);
  • Relevant course work in Business Administration, Management, Strategic Communications and Design, Training and Development, Education or Human Resources Management is required.
  • Computer literacy in standard software applications, especially Sharepoint and MS Office based applications (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)and keen interest in experimenting with AI tools is required.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Good knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Premiere is desirable.
  • Experience with Social Media, communication, change management or training and development in either academic or extra-curricular activities is desirable.
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
