About The Position

The City of Greeley Water & Sewer Department is seeking an individual who are committed to providing support for a growing, dynamic community. As part of the Engineering Division, you will work with other dedicated employees to enhance Greeley’s water infrastructure through work with the Asset Management Program. Asset Management works to develop a complete inventory of all water and wastewater infrastructure within the city. The Asset Management Intern will support the asset management team by compiling and organizing historical City records and data including digitizing construction drawings, working within large databases and collecting asset data in the field. Duties include assisting in project preparation, communications, historical document review, record-keeping with data input, data management, data review, and quality control. This position requires a self-motivated candidate with sound judgment, problem solving skills, and data management abilities who can work in collaboration with the project team. Scheduled Hours: 15-40 hours per week during regularly scheduled business hours Potential Duration: May 2026 – August 2026, with the possibility of extension, not to exceed 1,040 hours or six months, whichever occurs first.

Requirements

  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license in order to drive for the City
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates degree or currently enrolled in a GIS or data management related degree program at an accredited university with one to two years of undergraduate coursework completed.
  • One (1) year of record-keeping experience with data input, record-keeping, data management, data review and quality control.
  • Two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Excel for data input, validation, visualization, and analysis, FILTERS, VLOOKUP, and other advanced features required.
  • Experience with GIS or similar programs to display and edit data.
  • OR A combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job may be considered by the hiring authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled in a GIS or data management related degree at an accredited university as a junior, senior, or extended senior, OR completion of a bachelor’s degree (four-year degree) from an accredited college or university in a GIS or data management, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with advanced Excel features is preferred.
  • Two (2) years’ experience with ESRI ArcGIS maps, and dashboards with the ability to create maps, extract attribute data, and generate reports.
  • Previous experience working on engineering projects within a municipality, utility, or engineering firm.

  • Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and learn and experiment with new software and systems

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lists, spreadsheets, and reports to communicate and track project tasks.
  • Data management – categorizing asset status and condition scores to inform asset management strategic planning.
  • Use ArcGIS to review and export data.
  • Researching properties and their historical records.
  • Review and scan historical physical records, perform efficient and accurate data analysis and entry.
  • Document Standard Operating Procedures to facilitate quality control.
  • Thorough documentation of processes and findings for regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Assist with project reporting tasks.
  • Utilize other data sources as necessary including Weld County Data, GIS and other resources for data retrieval and comparison.
  • Review and scan historical physical records, perform efficient and accurate data analysis and entry.
