About The Position

The class works under general supervision and requires considerable knowledge of literacy and math content standards in order to organize and implement individual and/or group curriculum and after school programs for students. Incumbents plan, organize, conduct, and ensure implementation of after school programs and/or services in a specialty area. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 50% - Provides assistance to students in reading, basic math skills and in utilizing computer and district programs; writes and implements after school curriculum; implements supplemental curriculum as directed; assists in promoting positive communication and success of the program; serves as an advocate for students; provide resources to help support the after-school program. Communicates effectively with parents and after-school program staff. 50% - Works with colleagues, parents, and community partners to meet the students' individual needs; provides students with alternative, hands-on educational opportunities and learning experiences; attends staff meetings, professional developments, and training as necessary. Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires. Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.

Requirements

  • define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • write and implement lesson plans
  • recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action
  • read short sentences with concrete vocabulary
  • complete routine forms
  • currently enrolled in an early childhood education or middle school degree program and/or completion of pre-clinical requirements
  • experience in teaching assistance or working with children in a structured setting
  • experience in multiple virtual platforms used to instruct children

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree program
  • Current license from the Ohio Department of Education
