About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is a collaborative health care organization focused on improving patient care and the lives of Arkansans through its unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs. This position, under direct supervision, involves providing accurate and timely troubleshooting of security system and network cabling components. The role also includes performing installations of various electronic control systems, such as door access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, communication, cable management, electronic locks, Wi-Fi locks, network switches, point sensors, signaling devices, and associated hardware. A key aspect of the job is responding to system failures, isolating or repairing problem equipment or software, and making configuration changes to restore full system functionality.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field of study plus 1 year cabling, low voltage system, carpentry/building maintenance -OR- High School Diploma/GED with 3 years cabling, low voltage system, carpentry/building maintenance.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Customer Service experience preferred.
  • Arkansas Alarm License, Level 1.

Responsibilities

  • Provides accurate and timely troubleshooting of security system and network cabling components.
  • Perform installations of electronic control systems, which may include door access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, communication, cable management, electronic locks, Wi-Fi locks, network switches, point sensors, signaling devices and associated hardware.
  • Responds to situations where systems have failed and action must be taken to isolate or repair problem equipment, software, or make configuration changes to return systems to full functionality.
  • Participates in a group 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year on-call rotation where each member of the group takes call for 1 week at a time.
