About The Position

An ISS Paraprofessional provides instructional assistance to students that are placed in the in-school suspension (ISS) disciplinary setting. A Behavioral Adaptation Support Environment (BASE) Paraprofessional manages student behavior in the BASE classroom while under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting and managing of classroom activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
• Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate
• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Some experience working with children

Responsibilities

• Instructs and models replacement behaviors identified on student's behavior plan.
• Provides instruction and role-play opportunities for students in replacement behaviors identified in student's behavior plan.
• Consistently monitors students and uses BASE monitoring sheets to document student behaviors.
• Maintains effective communication with classroom teachers, staff, administrators and parents that build relationships and lead to greater behavioral outcomes.
