Haddon Heights School District Haddon Heights, NJ Interim Elementary Principal of Two Schools- Atlantic Avenue School (PK-2) & Seventh Avenue School (3-6) Full Time, Interim Position March 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026 Salary Range $350 - $450 per diem QUALIFICATIONS: Holds or is eligible for the New Jersey Principal Certification PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide leadership, supervision, and coordination of the total educational program within two elementary school buildings REPORTS TO: Superintendent or designee MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides instructional leadership for the educational program through planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation at two elementary school buildings. Uses data to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of education services and programs. Makes use of achievement data to provide leadership in curriculum development and implementation of best instructional practices. Facilitates the development of the school's vision, goals, and strategies, while supporting those of the district. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according to the due process rights of students. Develops the master teaching schedule and classroom assignments. Supervises the exclusion from school of any student who shows departure from normal health, who has been exposed to a communicable disease, or whose presence may be detrimental to the health and cleanliness of other pupils. Ensures that student record keeping procedures comply with state and federal law and district policy, establishing procedures for safe storing and integrity of all school records. Assumes responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of students and staff, including planning for emergencies and the training of the students in the procedures to be followed during such events. Attends school sponsored activities, functions, athletic events, and special events held to recognize student achievement. Interviews, recommends for appointment, assigns, supervises, and evaluates the performance of all school employees and assists them in the achievement of their professional development. Delegates authority to personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal. Utilizes a shared model of leadership in decision making. Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with parents, community groups, and individuals to foster understanding, soliciting support for and participation in overall school objectives and programs. Frequently communicates with students, staff, families, and community members using a variety of methods. Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school's administration and keeps the district administrators apprised of school events and activities. Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school's staff and students. Prepares and administers the school budget, supervising school finances and maintenance of school funds. Serves as a member of such task forces and committees and attends such meetings as the superintendent shall direct. Establishes procedures for the security and accountability of all school facilities, property, and equipment. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field. Performs other duties which may be within the scope of their employment and certifications as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee.
