Requirements

  • Valid South Carolina certification as an Elementary Principal or eligibility for appropriate certification
  • Master’s degree in Educational Administration or related field
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience and three years of school or district-level administrative experience
  • Demonstrated success leading instructional improvement and staff development
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience fostering positive school culture and supporting diverse learners
  • Demonstrates strong team-building and collaborative leadership skills
  • Shows initiative and sound judgment in decision-making
  • Communicates effectively with diverse populations
  • Models professionalism, integrity, and high expectations

Responsibilities

  • Supports and upholds the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of York School District One.
  • Establishes a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment that promotes belonging and academic success.
  • Leads a results-oriented instructional program based on high-quality standards, curriculum, and assessments.
  • Uses data from multiple sources to monitor student learning, guide instructional decisions, and close achievement gaps.
  • Ensures implementation of effective PLC practices that support continuous improvement.
  • Recruits, hires, develops, and retains high-quality staff.
  • Provides meaningful feedback, coaching, and evaluation in accordance with state and district procedures.
  • Implements district policies, regulations, and Board directives.
  • Oversees daily school operations, building maintenance, technology, transportation coordination, and school safety procedures.
  • Ensures implementation and monitoring of emergency operations and crisis response plans.
  • Plans and monitors the school budget; manages federal, state, and grant funds appropriately.
  • Ensures compliance with accreditation requirements.
  • Builds strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Communicates clearly, consistently, and professionally with all stakeholders.
  • Coordinates school activities with other schools and district programs.
  • Participates in professional learning, conferences, and district-required training.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
