About The Position

Hermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries. We are seeking an Integration Engineer – Avionics to support vehicle avionics hardware from design release through build, test, and final delivery. In this role, you will work across Power Distribution, Communications & Compute, and tray build assemblies to ensure seamless integration, performance, and readiness for deployment. This position plays a critical role in bridging design and production, driving hardware from concept to fully integrated flight-ready systems.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building hardware in a manufacturing or integration environment
  • Familiar with aerospace assembly best practices
  • Experience writing build and test procedures for technicians and specialists
  • Exposure to electrical harness design and mechanical routing in 3D CAD software
  • Collaborate with integrated product teams to ensure system-level avionics design meets needs for structures, propulsion, and software systems integration and test
  • Comfortable communicating across design, manufacturing, supply chain, test, and logistics teams to ensure hardware quality and pace of execution
  • Self-starter who can define and roll out new processes from scratch, working collaboratively with technicians, engineers, and external vendors
  • Proficient in CAD, basic design or test analysis, and first-principles hand calculations
  • Must be willing to be hands-on in a manufacturing and test environment daily.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work safely around high-pressure systems and industrial equipment.
  • Extended or flexible hours may be required to support critical build and test milestones.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other mission-critical mechanical hardware
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience authoring and improving work instructions, travelers, and build documentation
  • Familiarity with PLM/MES systems and production change control in a regulated environment
  • Hands-on exposure to tooling, fixtures, or assembly aids on the manufacturing floor

Responsibilities

  • Provide design feedback for manufacturability, assembly, test, integration, and transport
  • Establish and maintain build roadmaps for assemblies you own; to ensure alignment between key stakeholders, drive hardware and tooling on-time deliveries, minimize build serialization, and escalate and eliminate blockers
  • Develop and release build CONOPS, work instructions, standard processes and procedures, and optimize existing processes to enable high quality, high speed execution
  • Support first article builds in a fast-paced, early-development environment
  • Own design, process, and CapEx trades to support build and unlock key capabilities, and contribute to development of long-term, scalable manufacturing systems and infrastructure
  • Drive make-vs.-buy decisions; collaborate with Engineering and Supply Chain
  • Provide hands-on floor support during build and test
  • Drive continuous improvement measures across the factory, including tooling, ERP / MES workflows, and internal standards and specifications
