About The Position

$1,000 Retention Bonus Available! The Intake Specialist serves as a patient advocate and allows access to life changing care for members of the community. Intake Specialists work within a collaborative team including physicians, providers, other intake specialists and many other members of a multidisciplinary team. The Intake Specialist gains career experience to develop and progress with a nationally recognized behavioral health leader.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Computer skills required, including word processing.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Mental Health experience preferred.
Previous experience in insurance, billing preferred.

Responsibilities

Welcome patients and caregivers, ensuring a positive and seamless admission process.
Collect, verify, and input medical, insurance, and demographic information with accuracy.
Explain and complete admission paperwork, obtaining required signatures (e.g., patient rights, consent forms).
Register patients and manage documents using the Cerner system.
Conduct safety checks and assist with belongings searches as needed.
Manage patient interactions in crisis situations, maintaining a calm and welcoming environment.
Facilitate unscheduled admissions, including screenings and scheduling in collaboration with Patient Access.
Communicate with multidisciplinary teams to address clinical criteria, documentation, and treatment issues.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, and other regulatory requirements.
Explain insurance coverage to patients and handle related inquiries.
Provide clear documentation and communicate cases requiring special attention.
Participate in on-call, weekend, and holiday coverage as scheduled
Professional demeanor and adherence to hospital policies.
Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and willingness to participate in training.
