Purpose: To provide support to the Organization by assessing individual’s needs and obtaining required services. Much of the organization’s early growth can be attributed to assisting state agencies with deinstitutionalization efforts, and in more recent years, Sunrise has welcomed smaller companies in need of assistance or support into the Sunrise Group. As a result, over the last 60 years Sunrise has increased the number of persons served from 50 people in just South Florida to over 1,400 across several states with over 2,500 exceptional employees.

Requirements

  • Must successfully complete the required pre-employment Background and Drug Screenings
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License which meets company standards for approved driver status
  • Must be proficient with WORD, EXCEL, Outlook and possess basic computer skills
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent (Master’s Degree in Social Work required if providing supervision to Social Work interns)
  • Must possess two years of experience in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Must possess five years of experience with admissions and applicable regulatory agencies
  • Must be able to travel to all locations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with applicable regulatory agencies in obtaining referrals for admissions for all locations
  • Provides tours of Sunrise programs and facilities to parents, guardians, agencies to educate them regarding the mission and philosophy of the organization
  • Networks with community agencies for information exchanges and referrals
  • Responsible for coordinating the pre-admission and admission individual placement process for Sunrise programs throughout the organization
  • Provides assistance and training to Sunrise stakeholders and guardians with issues related to financial benefits, social work issues, guardianship and self-advocacy
  • Serves as the organization’s liaison in Parent Advocacy groups
  • Provides supervision and support to Social Work Interns in their daily duties (if qualified)
  • Attends meetings as required by the organization
  • Attends conferences, trainings and provider fairs in the community relating to Social Work, Developmental Disabilities and related subjects
  • Proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal) is required as this job entails direct care of adults and children receiving services. Employees are required to communicate, both orally and in writing, with staff and others regarding medical care, supports, and services. This requirement includes the ability to effectively communicate in English including medical terminology.
