About The Position

Interns will shadow staff in each department, assist with projects, participate in the ongoing requirements of each department as directed, and observe the flow of the Insurance Company. Interns will gain invaluable hands-on experience and be exposed to the ways in which each department is interconnected. In Claims, interns will engage with various units including Auto, Property, Litigation, SIU (Special Investigations Unit), and Operations. They will assist in processing claims from beginning to end, investigating fraud, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. In the Underwriting Department interns will learn about the different lines of business, their risk appetite, and various form types and policies. They will assist a field underwriter in an inspection of property, liability risk evaluations, and make county office visits. Interns will also have an overview of the mailroom operations. The Information and Technology (IT) Department will ensure that insurance interns gain experience with the Project Management Group, learning about strategic planning and project execution. The Support Training Team will enlighten interns on how programs are designed and implemented. At the support desk interns will assist in giving technical assistance-learning the importance of effective communication. They will learn about data center management, production cycle monitoring, and print center support. The Software Development Group will ensure they are exposed to application and web development processes. IT Quality Assurance Testers will facilitate writing test cases and ensuring software quality. While in Brokerage, interns will observe various Brokerage functions such as new business and renewal quoting, and the binding and servicing of Brokerage agency business. The Human Resources Department will educate interns about the full life cycle of an employee. Procedures including recruiting, onboarding, employee retention, employee relations, payroll, compensation, employee benefits, and the functions of HRIS platforms will be observed.

Requirements

  • Occasional travel may be necessary for meetings and/or to visit office locations.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Students should be entering their junior or senior year at an accredited college or university.

  • Risk Management degree program is preferred.
