About The Position

Acuity is seeking a insurance Customer Service Intern to supplement Service Claims to work from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, with weekends and holidays optional for those seeking additional hours. In this role, the intern will answer incoming after-hours Acuity telephone calls, enter new losses, follow established escalation criteria, and page handlers when appropriate. The position also provides backup support for various units, including Billing, Imaging, Policy Assembly, the Mail Room, and the Switchboard, ensuring timely and accurate service across multiple operational areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma and one year post high school experience preferred.
• Prior customer service experience required.
• Flexibility and adaptability to do multiple tasks in each day.
• Interpersonal skills to ensure appropriate coverage and interact with internal and external customers.
• Ability to empathetically lead the conversation, gather the necessary information and follow the screen flow.
• Ability to learn quickly and utilize active listening to retain important conversation details.
• General PC knowledge and ability to type a lphanumeric data entry rate of required keystrokes per hour with minimal errors.
• Ability to work 100% remotely.
• Required to establish a workspace that is quiet, private, and free from interruptions.
• Must provide an internet connection, at own cost, that provides the necessary capacity and speed to conduct business.

Responsibilities

• Answers incoming calls and handles them appropriately. This includes entering new losses, processing policy payments, and routing switchboard calls.
• Inputs Automobile, Property, and General Liability losses received via mail, email, phone, or fax into the Claims System.
• Indexes claims and commercial lines documents.
• Assists with tasks in the units noted above and special projects as assigned.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
