Job Details: Geocomp is currently seeking an Instrumentation & Monitoring Technician to join our team in Acton, Massachusetts. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on complex monitoring systems that help protect critical infrastructure during construction and long-term operation. As part of Geocomp’s Instrumentation & Monitoring group, you will support the design, installation, and operation of geotechnical and structural monitoring systems on heavy civil infrastructure projects. his hybrid role combines field and office work, supporting both instrumentation systems and geo-structural engineering services. Requirements

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Relevant educational or work experience in sensors, mechanical, geotechnical and/or structural engineering
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Must be able to work with teams and individuals of varying work styles
  • Up to 25% average travel (domestic) may be required over the course of a year.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift/carry up to 50 lbs
  • Comfort working at heights (10+ feet) and in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in field environments with exposure to construction equipment, noise, dust, temperature variations, and other site conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Field construction experience
  • EIT Certification
  • GIS and CAD software experience
  • Instrumentation installation and monitoring experience

Responsibilities

  • Assembling instrumentation and dataloggers
  • Programming dataloggers
  • Field inspection of construction activities
  • Field supervision of drill rigs including boring logs for geotechnical evaluation
  • Installing instrumentation in the field
  • Downloading and reducing field data
  • Occasional climbing up to ladders and lifting up to 50 lbs to install or decommission instrumentation
  • Operation of power tools and hand tools (hammer drill, Sawzall, wrenches, etc)
  • Producing reports
  • Configuration and presentation of data via Geocomp’s iSiteCentral web data management platform
  • Data analysis and troubleshooting
  • Coordinating and communicating with clients, subcontractors, and others
  • 2-3 days of field work per week may be typically required in the summer months dependent on project demands.
